Mission

The mission of the Department of Pharmaceutics has two main aims: the first concerns education and training, and the second focuses on research and innovation. The first aim is achieved by providing undergraduate and postgraduate students with the fundamental knowledge needed to understand the physicochemical and biopharmaceutical aspects related to the design, evaluation and manufacture of dosage forms. The second aim is achieved by conducting and supervising innovative research that advances knowledge and transfers it to external partners, with the goal of improving drug delivery and the quality of healthcare provided to patients.

About the Department

The Department of Pharmaceutics is one of the core scientific departments of the College of Pharmacy. It studies the pharmaceutical sciences related to the design, preparation, evaluation and manufacture of the various dosage forms. The department covers the physicochemical and biopharmaceutical principles that govern drug stability, absorption, distribution and release in the body, as well as pharmacokinetics and bioavailability. It focuses on developing modern drug delivery systems that ensure the active ingredient reaches its site of action efficiently and safely. It also teaches industrial pharmacy, pharmaceutical technology, quality control, biopharmaceutics, cosmetic preparations and natural materials with pharmacological effects. The department seeks to prepare scientifically and professionally qualified pharmaceutical staff able to contribute to the pharmaceutical industry, scientific research and pharmacy practice in line with the latest international standards. It also pays great attention to scientific research and innovation by conducting applied studies that serve the health sector and support the development of the drug industry locally and internationally.
