The Dean of the College of Pharmacy and the Assistant Dean for Scientific Affairs and Students Participate in a Master’s Thesis Defense at the College of Medicine – Al-Nahrain University

Prof. Dr. Haider Bahaa Sahib, Dean of the College of Pharmacy at Al-Nahrain University, participated as a committee member and supervisor, while Assist. Prof. Dr. Shaimaa Hussein Hammoudi, Assistant Dean for Scientific Affairs and Students, participated as a committee member in the discussion of the Master’s thesis submitted by student Abeer Saber Alaiwi at the Department of Pharmacology, College of Medicine, Al-Nahrain University. The defense took place on Thursday, 3 September 2026.

The thesis was entitled:

“Evaluation of the Potential Effects of Green Walnut Husk (Juglans regia L.) on Angiogenesis and Cell Proliferation.”

🎯 The study aimed to evaluate the potential effects of green walnut husk extract in inhibiting angiogenesis and cell proliferation, investigate its effects on the gene expression of vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF), and assess its antioxidant activity, along with selected phytochemical and computational properties.

The defense featured a scientific discussion addressing the research methodology, findings, and scientific significance. At the conclusion of the defense, the student was awarded an Excellent grade.
