Laboratory Sciences

As part of the activities of the Second International Scientific Conference of the College of Pharmacy – Al-Nahrain University, held under the theme “Pharmaceutical Education That Makes an Impact,” the Department of Clinical Laboratory Sciences organized a specialized scientific seminar titled:

📌 “Ribosomal RNA Profile: A Method of Diagnosing Diamond-Blackfan Anaemia”

The seminar was delivered by Lecturer Dr. Qais Amer Al-Akeely, in the presence of the Dean of the College of Pharmacy, Professor Dr. Haider Bahaa Sahib, along with the Head of the Department of Clinical Laboratory Sciences, Professor Dr. Rafil Shakib Abdulwahab, and a distinguished group of faculty members and students.

🔹 Objective:
The seminar aimed to introduce students to the latest molecular diagnostic methods based on ribosomal RNA analysis and their role in the early and accurate detection of genetic diseases, particularly Diamond-Blackfan Anaemia. It also sought to enhance educational outcomes and link them with modern clinical applications.

🔹 Key Topics Covered:
● Introduction to ribosomal RNA and its vital role in cells
● Its use as a diagnostic tool in genetic diseases
● Overview of Diamond-Blackfan Anaemia and its molecular causes
● Modern laboratory techniques for RNA analysis
● The importance of early diagnosis in improving treatment outcomes

This seminar was held in conjunction with the conclusion of the conference activities, reaffirming the college’s commitment to integrating theoretical knowledge with practical application and providing students with access to the latest developments in pharmaceutical and laboratory sciences.

✨ Dear Students,
Such seminars represent valuable opportunities to build advanced scientific awareness. Stay engaged in these activities that contribute to developing your skills and shaping your professional future.
