The College of Pharmacy at Al-Nahrain University Organizes a Scientific Workshop on “Enzymes in Organic Synthesis”

The Continuing Education Unit at the College of Pharmacy, Al-Nahrain University, organized a scientific workshop titled “Enzymes in Organic Synthesis,” attended by a distinguished group of professors and faculty members. The workshop was presented by Assistant Professor Dr. Ahmed Thamer Salem, “Associate Dean for Administrative Affairs.”

The workshop covered several key topics, including:
• “Introduction to Enzymes”: An overview of the role of enzymes in biological and industrial processes.
• “Types of Enzymes Used in Organic Synthesis”: A detailed look at the most important enzymes and their role in chemical synthesis.
• “The Importance of Enzymes as Catalysts”: Highlighting the benefits of using enzymes as environmentally friendly and more efficient alternatives to traditional chemical catalysts.
• “Practical Applications”: Examples of pharmaceutical compounds synthesized using enzymes.

The workshop aimed to shed light on the vital role enzymes play in organic synthesis, particularly in the preparation of pharmaceutical compounds. Enzymes offer efficiency and eco-friendly solutions that contribute to the sustainable development of the pharmaceutical industry.
